Broadly, Stradx is a highly sophisticated and flexible research tool that runs under Linux or Irix (on SGI machines), whereas Stradwin is an easy-to-use tool that runs under Linux and Windows. Freehand three-dimensional ultrasound imaging is performed by attaching a position sensor to the ultrasound probe and using a computer to record the trajectory of the probe as the clinician perfoms the scan. Both Stradx and Stradwin are designed to work with a wide variety of position sensors and ultrasound machines.
